Reflexives pronouns

Reflective pronouns are used to emphasize the meaning of the phrase (to enhance the subject who performs the action for "if same").

los pronombres reflexivos son los siguientes:

oneself    se, a sí mismo, uno mismo (impersonal)

myself    me, a mí mismo, yo mismo

yourself    te, tú mismo, a ti mismo, a usted mismo

himself    se, a sí mismo, a él mismo

herself    se, a sí misma, a ella misma

itself        se, a sí mismo, a ello mismo

ourselves    nos, a nosotros mismos

yourselves    os, a vosotros mismos, a ustedes mismos

themselves    se, a sí mismos, a ellos mismos

Examples: 

•  wrote this book myself  / Escribí yo mismo este libro
• The chairman himself opened the meeting / El presidente en persona abrió la reunión
• - Conjuntamente con 'by' expresan la idea de que algo se hizo sin ayuda.
• I wrote this book by myself / Escribí este libro yo solo (sin ayuda)

• She burned herself. (Ella se quemó a sí misma)

• I blame myself for that mistake. (Me culpo yo mismo por ese error)
• He cuts himself when he shaves. (Él mismo se corta cuando se afeita)
• The cat hurt itself when it jumped over the fence. (El gato se lastimó él mismo cuando salto sobre la cerca)
• My son is old enough to dress himself. (Mi hijo tiene la edad suficiente para vestirse por él mismo)
• My sisters like to look at themselves in the mirror. (A mis hermanas les gusta verse ellas mismas en el espejo)
• She cut herself with the same knife. (Ella misma se cortó con el mismo cuchillo)
• The soldier shot himself by accident. (El soldado se disparó él mismo por accidente)
• She hasn’t been herself lately. (No ha sido ella misma últimamente)
• You will hurt yourself if you are not careful enough. (Tú te lastimarás si no eres cuidadoso)

- Los pronombres reflexivos se utilizan para enfatizar el sentido de la frase (para realzar al sujeto que realiza la acción por "si mismo").
